Halloween Fun

I feel like life just hit the accelerate pedal and I'm trying my best to keep up.  This week I was finally able to make some fun Halloween treats with Paigie.  The mummies are oreo cookies and the ghosts are nutter butters.  Look how cute these turned out!

Cute huh?  The picture in the background...I made it.  Thanks to Tawna's super craft party last month!  I'm officially "crafty."

Star Wars Birthday

My son recently turned 6 and wanted a Star Wars birthday cake this year.  I have to admit, I wasn't ready to say good-bye to SpiderMan.  I mean I finally know all of the characters and I have a special affection for Venom.  He's cool.  And I love Spider Mans wit.  I totally get into the cartoon.  Now keep in mind, we haven't seen the movies (too young still).  But the cartoons on Kabillion have kept me entertained on those cold winter days.  Anyway, I must move on.  Star Wars.  My son has specifically requested a Death Star cake.  Deep breath!  I don't know much about Star Wars other than I dig on Han Solo and think Darth Vader could be the obsene caller I get from time to time.  I apparently have a lot more to learn about the characters...

I made the Death Star cake.  It's okay.  I want to make it again because I now know exactly what to do so it will rock.  The bottom cake is an ice cream cake and the Death Star cake is chocolate with peanut butter filling.  The best part about the cake was Nate's reaction.  He told me it was "cool" and thanked me for making it for him...awwww!!  I also made some marshmallow pops and light saber pretzels along with some refreshing yoda soda.

How Does She?

I am continuously amazed by the energy my mom has.  I look back on the years she had me at home with her and realize all she did was "GO."  She had so much energy to run my sister & I around.  She never seemed to tire.  She always had the right words to say when I needed her advice.  The house always seemed spotless, dinner was always "on" and she was always dressed for the day (with make-up on and hair done)!  What on earth am I missing here?  I have two kids, ages 6 and 4, who continuously need me.  The house manages to get picked up and once in awhile dinner is "on" (I love the idea of sandwiches and cereal for dinner).  Dressed?  Sure.  Not dressed up though.  Hair?  Sure.  Not curled though.  Makeup?  Sure, if you count chapstick.  OMG.  I am pulling the entire sanctity of motherhood down the drain as I lay her on my deck.  I do have a good tan though...
